The Clients
I have worked with some of the largest companies in Canada (Walmart Canada, Ford, and Canadian Tire). Also, some mid-size ones (Henry's and Air Miles). And not-for-profits, too (Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity). Regardless of their size or industry, they all share share a respect for - and a desire to engage with - their customers and audiences. They understand that creating good content at the top of the funnel helps achieve their goals at the bottom of the funnel.
What is it about Content Marketing that I like? The audiences. Whether they click on a video, open an enewsletter, share a Tweet or go old school and pick up magazine, these are audiences that are primed to be engaged, entertained and educated. And that makes it a whole lot of fun to create content for them!
A Brief History
So, a little bit more about me. I spent 12 years as a business reporter and editor at The Financial Post, then three years at the National Post. That was followed by six years as the editor-in-chief of TV Guide and tvguide.ca, and now 11 years as a content marketer. I've had the opportunity of interviewing some of Canada's top executives, and the pleasure of talking to some of the world's top singers, entertainers and artists (Alanis, Ellen, and Alex Colville). I once even got an audience - there's no other word for it - with British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. It may not have made me the most interesting man in the world, but it's given me a most interesting career.
